Author’s Republic
A test, and not every shop on their list will take it
Author’s Republic says it is testing distribution of AI-voice audiobooks that were already produced on another platform. It also says those books are not permitted on all retail and library platforms.

Market
Author’s Republic is a distributor, not a shop. Listeners never “go to Author’s Republic” to buy. The company sends files to retailers and libraries that agree to carry the title.
Their AI article, updated 21 May 2025, does not list which shops are in the test. It says plainly that AI-voice books are not permitted on all retail and library platforms, so the list will be shorter than for a human-narrated book.
There is no published market share, because they are not a market. Any sale is a sale on someone else’s store, after their cut.

Files they prefer
Their general audio list, updated 23 October 2025, asks for MP3, constant bit rate, 44.1 kHz, 192 kbps or higher, one chapter or section per file, opening and closing credits as their own tracks, and a sample between 1 and 5 minutes.
Each file must be under 120 minutes and 170 MB, start with a spoken section title, and have 1 to 5 seconds of silence at each end. They also specify RMS between −23 and −18 dB, peaks no higher than −3 dB, and a noise floor no higher than −60 dB RMS.
A Listening Room package already has separate credit files and chapter MP3s at 44.1 kHz and 192 kbps. It does not add a retail sample, and a synthetic voice will not imitate a booth’s noise floor. Ask Author’s Republic whether the AI test uses that full booth checklist before you spend time mastering.
They follow the Audio Publishers Association naming guidelines. Label the narrator as an AI voice. Do not credit Leo or Eve as a human performer.
Money
The AI distribution article does not state a royalty, a fee, or a payment date. The number that matters is the distribution agreement in your account.
Because some shops will refuse the file, do not budget as if every Author’s Republic channel will pay.
They say they are not using submitted AI audiobooks to train a model. That is a distribution test of a finished recording.
What else to know
The test is for audiobooks “previously produced by other platforms”. A finished Listening Room master is that kind of file. It is still a test, not a standing promise.
Human-narrated titles on the same company can be hired out to a narrator inside their studio. You do not need that if the book is already spoken.
If a shop on their list is also on this site’s “will not” list, expect the AI edition to skip it. Audible via ACX is the obvious example.
